On September 26, 2019, the 4th International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Asia Oceania Regional Conference was held in Xi’an, Shaanxi. Nearly 200 people, including professionals in cultural and children’s book publishing fields from 24 countries and regions as well as members of the IBBY Executive Committee, attended the conference. 
      The theme of this conference was “Children and the Future”. To embody this theme, the organizers meticulously planned and organized the “Belt and Road” Children’s Publishing Forum, “Children’s Reading and Future of the World” Forum, and “Childhood Experience in Children’s Literature Creation” Forum, etc., and invited Chinese and foreign children’s literature writers, illustrators, literary critics, and cultural publishers from all over the world to participate in the sharing and discussion on related topics. The guests who participated in the lectures and activities came from China, Mongolia, India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Iran, Nepal, Japan, Afghanistan, Russia and other countries. During the conference, the organizers also specially planned a series of bookstore and campus activities, including the Dinosaur Bus readers’ meeting, where New Zealand painter Rose Kinnell was invited to tell the children’s book creation experience at the bookstore and had some pleasant interaction with young readers; famous writer Cao Wenxuan’s lectures on campuses, where he told students how to write and presented books on-site; “telling stories with writer grandpas” activity in kindergartens, where old writers such as Jin Bo, Gao Hongbo, Bai Bing share the fun of storytelling with kindergarten children and gave them books as gifts.
