The IBBY Honor List is selected every two years and released at the IBBY World Congress that year. The books on the list come from all member countries. These books reflect the characteristics of each country, and at the same time are suitable for multilingual publishing. It also requires that the publication time of all nominated works to be within 3 years.
Each member country can apply for one in each work category of the writer, illustrator and translator awards. For countries that continuously create / translate a large number of children’s books in more than one language, additional nominations can be made for other books written in different official languages of the country. All nominated books must be copyrighted. Non-copyrighted books are not acceptable. Works whose copyrights are in the public domain are exempt from this requirement.
