A photo of a bright red apple appears with the text “Smooth Apple.” The same apple changes little by little over time, becoming wrinkly, swollen, soft, limp, and then bug-eaten. But is that the end? The author observed and photographed the same apple for about a year to create this picture book. Each photo has only brief words with no explanations, but the idea that all living things change, ultimately becoming nourishment for future life, comes across in the realistic photos.
